PSS is a global safety, health, and business consulting company specializing in construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and maritime industries. Donna’s background includes over 35 years of professional safety experience in both the safety field and consulting business. Donna has achieved the highest level of certification in the safety industry as a board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with a specialty in Construction. Her background includes being an authorized OSHA Outreach for 10 and 30 hour classes, certified NFPA 70E Instructor, MSHA Certified Instructor, and an authorized CPR/First Aid Train the Trainer instructor through Medic First Aid. Her college education focused primarily on business management at the University of Tennessee at Martin and math studies at Southwest Tennessee University College. As an active trainer of many different courses, Donna’s true passion is continuing education in the realm of safety and health with her students.
Donna’s safety career sparked in 1987 with a mechanical contractor in northwest Tennessee, which quickly excelled as she served in various safety and management roles within other organizations including; Loss Control Specialist, Safety Consultant, and Vice-President of Safety. Donna seized the opportunity to move to Southwest Tennessee and start her own consulting service business, which specialized in the development and implementation of safety programs for construction contractors. Donna’s vision for safety culture instead of safety program separates her from competitors as she created and trademarked two programs: Safety Orientation System (S.O.S.) and Safety Training and Testing (S.T.A.T) which she sold to a large on-line company in 2015 and then merged her company (Pearson Safety Services LLC) to combine both the on-line training and the hands-on services in 2019 to create Pearson Safety Solutions LLC, thereby providing the clients with ease of both much needed services.
Donna is a charter member of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Safety Network. She is also a member of American Society of Safety Professional, former member of WBENC (Certified Women’s Owned Business Enterprise), Memphis Minority Business Continuum, State of TN Governor’s Office of Diversity Business Enterprise, and former member of Chamber of Commerce (having won the Emerging Growth Award in Jackson, TN and Murray, KY), as well as elected Board Member of the West Kentucky Community Technical College (WKCTC). She is a former executive board member of the American Heart Association and a past President of the Golden Circle Chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers in Jackson, TN. Donna is a contributing author for the 2015 publication by the American Society of Safety Engineers entitled “Consultants Business Development Guide”. She has also had an article on “Safety Culture VS. Safety Program” published in numerous safety council magazines and other training literature. Her personal loss of her husband in 2000 to diabetes led to her publishing a journal about their journey with this disease and is published through Trafford Publishing and the book is titled, Lee’s Journal: A Lesson in Diabetes and Denial. This has increased her passion to make sure other families do not suffer the loss her family did and motivates her to help others “get it” on their own commitment to personal safety. Her knowledge and expertise are always the basis of invitations as a popular guest speaker at various professional events.
